Abstract
Traffic models have frequently been used to evaluate (1) traffic management systems, (2) traffic control schemes, and (3) automated vehicle routing, as well as for planning purposes. Simulation-in-the-loop control is presently used in control schemes where the processes internal to the plant model are not easily reduced to analytical equations. This paper combines these ideas and presents a traffic model suitable for simulator-in-the-loop ramp control that allows for accurate predictions based on a micro-simulation. It also demonstrates that ramp demand can be modeled using a Poisson arrival model
