Abstract
A four bit phase shifter for a phased array has been described. The phase shifter has been realised in a hybrid MIC technique with PIN diodes used as switching elements. The circuit consists of three bits realised as a periodically loaded line and one based on a hybrid 3 dB coupler. The three first bits have special tuning elements for the fine tuning of the required phase shift. The phase shift error was not greater than 3 degrees. Average loss was about 1.5 dB, while maximum amplitude unbalance was 0.3 dB
