Abstract
A new routing mechanism for intermittently connected mobile networks is presented in this article. Due to high mobility, it is difficult to maintain a reliable path in intermittently connected mobile networks. In order for data transmission among nodes, the flooding-based routing methods were commonly used. Although the deliver ratio can be increased, it exhausts too much network resources. The proposed mechanism, called Spray and Hop, improves the bandwidth utilization by token forwarding, and increase successful deliver ratio by utility function. As a result, the information exchange between nodes, as well as the connected network, will benefit from spray and hop, in terms of end-to-end delay and network performance.
