Abstract :
In this paper, we present a new method to analyze the performance of the power saving class type III with a sleep-delay for self-similar traffic in the IEEE 802.16e. According to the operating mechanism of the sleep mode for power saving class type III with sleep-delay, considering the self-similar nature of massive multimedia packet in wireless networks, a discrete-time batch arrival multiple vacation queueing model with vacation-delay is built, and the batch size is supposed to be Pareto distributed in this paper. By employing an embedded Markov chain method, we obtain the performance measures such as queueing length, waiting time and busy cycle in steady state. Moreover, we also derive explicitly the performance measures in terms of energy saving ratio and average packet response time. Finally, numerical results are given to demonstrate the dependency relationships between the system performance measures and the system parameters with different the time length for the sleep-delay timer and different self-similar degrees.
