Abstract :
Currently the monitoring of dust concentration in coal mines is of considerable importance in terms of safety and productivity. This paper describes a novel on-line coal dust detection method. Its main characteristics are on-line processing, slip weighted average sampling followed by linear fitting, and automatic correcting of K values. Experimental results from an actual coal-mine are presented, and indicate that the system has adequate sensitivity and reliability to fulfill the requirements of real-time dust concentration monitoring.
