Abstract :
In this paper, a concatenating coding scheme is proposed for satellite communication, which employs an inner trellis code and RS outer codes. The inner code is a rate 5/6 4-dimensional 8 PSK trellis code based on Viterbi´s pragmatic coding idea. The outer codes are RS(255,239) and NASA standard RS(255,223) codes, respectively. Performance is evaluated by an analytical method and computer simulations under an ideal linear AWGN channel.
