Abstract :
An efficient analytical-numerical compensating sources technique (CST) for electromagnetic analysis of PBG structures with defects is presented. Defect in PBG structure is an element with parameters different from parameters of a regular array element. Defects which form waveguides, resonators, waveguide junctions etc. in two-dimensional PBG structures are considered. It is shown that CST provides not only high numerical efficiency but also allows one to study natural modes of an infinite waveguide and to introduce S-matrix of multi-port junction
