  • Abstract
    Theoretical investigation of whispering gallery mode, WGM, resonator excitation by temporally switched source is carried out. Study is performed in rigorous mathematical manner using Green´s function approach. Analytical solution obtained in Laplace transform domain is inverted with simple numerical technique to yield a time domain representation. Attention is focused upon the spectrum of cavity resonances excited, in particular how the practically important WGMs are established over time, and the transient radiation fields
