Abstract

Purchasing portfolio is a significant tool for purchasing and supply management. Although the Kraljic portfolio approach is a dominant approach in the profession, there are problems and unanswered questions with respect to measurement and strategic issues. This study describes a purchasing portfolio approach and strategic directions for steel industry. With this approach, the measurement method has been quantified based upon item attributes by using the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The application of this approach in a steel plant indicates its validity and practicability.
