Abstract
In this paper we designed and fabricated a compact and low cost millimeter wave radar using a MMIC radar RF frond end for moving object detection. The effective detection distance is up to 25 meters. The system design along with detailed design of analog signal processing part, containing two cascaded low noise amplifier and a voltage stabilizing circuit, and digital signal processing part, constituted by some low cost basic digital circuit elements, are described. Extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of this radar design in real environment. Because of its low cost, small size and some other unique features related to millimeter wave detection, it has a promising market future.
