Abstract :
We suggest ways of raising the effectiveness and of evaluating the exactitude of the method of stratification for the analysis of inhomogeneous dielectric waveguides. We will use the example of the symmetrical planar waveguide with dielectric boundaries. It is necessary to mention that the suggested method is valid both for the asymmetric planar optical waveguides, including those with reflecting metal boundaries, and for the optical fibers with diverse cross-sections
