Abstract
This paper I present the design theory of the FWM wavelength converter using single-mode optical fiber. The conversion efficiency for far off and around zero-dispersion wavelength of a fiber are discussed and compared. The theoretical calculations of the conversion efficiency for both cases are made. The numerical results for wavelength conversion around zero-dispersion wavelength are clearly shown in conversion diagrams. In this paper I also address the optimization of conversion efficiency and bandwidth
