Abstract :
A technique for simulating electron-optical systems comprising grids, collectors and magnetic systems is discussed. An operative 2D code was initially used to calculate basic parameters, following which the effects of asymmetries were investigated using 3D codes. The results are presented of simulating electron-optical systems to shape the high-perveance (Pμ ∼ 1.3 μA/V32/) electron stream in a channel and a two-stage collector.
