  • Abstract
In this paper, mesoporous Pt electrode is fabricated and characterized on silicon substrate for non-disposable micro-sensor applications. The fabricated mesoporous Pt electrode is applied for fabricating enzymeless biosensor to be integrated with silicon CMOS read out circuitry. The fabricated enzymeless biosensor has the mesoporous Pt working electrodes and Ag/AgCl reference electrode. The current responses of the fabricated sensors with the plane Pt and mesoporous Pt working electrodes are approximately 9.9 nA and 1.74 muA in 10 mM glucose solution (normal sugar blood concentration), respectively. The proposed sensor has also the excellent performance characteristics in glucose solution with ascorbic acid due to the largely expanded surface area and nano-scaled pores. This result shows the mesoporous Pt electrode is promising for CMOS integrated non-disposable micro-sensor applications. The non-disposable biosensors are necessary in handheld ubiquitous health care systems and continuous monitoring systems.
