Abstract
We propose an asynchronous CDMA system, where the users´ symbol alphabet is matched to the desired bandwidth efficiency and where the spreading factor (roughly) equals the number of users. Simulations using iterative decoding with soft cancellation indicate that bandwidth efficiency can come close to a comparable single-user system
