Abstract :
The implementation of a 6GHz band TDD RF receiver for the next generation mobile communication network is reported in this paper. The receiver operates in the 6GHz-6.3GHz band and supports a channel bandwidth of 100MHz. To maximize the system performance, classical superheterodyne scheme is utilized and the details of the system scheme are introduced in this paper. The design issues of the low noise amplifier (LNA) and the suppression of the I/Q image are described as follows. Measurement results show that the gain of the LNA is above 23dB and the noise figure of it is bellow 1dB within the working frequency band. Meanwhile, the overall gain of the receiver is around 70dB with above 63dB control range. The I/Q image suppression measured is above 40dB and the noise figure of whole receiver is below 5dB. Furthermore, the error vector magnitude (EVM) measurement shows that the performance of the developed RF receiver is well beyond the requirements of the LTE-Advanced system.
