Abstract :
The results of the design of a measuring antenna for the 0.85 to 17.44 GHz frequency band are presented. Antenna gain was measured to be at least 9 dB at 0.85 GHz and 28 dB at 17.44 GHz. The antenna is intended to generate the reference electromagnetic field during measurements with an appropriate signal source, and, together with appropriate receivers, for electromagnetic field analysis, for electromagnetic environment monitoring, and for measurements of antenna parameters and small levels of electromagnetic power. The antenna type is named the P6-23M. It is a horn-coaxial antenna, which is a conventional horn combined with a complex wideband waveguide-coaxial junction. The antenna port is a standard coax with 50 ohm impedance which is gradually converted into the link, with the off-center internal rod connected with a ridged waveguide which is in turn gradually converted into the H waveguide horn. The wide frequency band, high technical performance and the possibility of operation in the harsh climatic environment of -50°C to + 50°C nominate this antenna as the best one in the corresponding class of antennas.
