Abstract :
In this paper, we study the properties of the solution of the standard fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm, and show that a fuzzy partition including a W-universium is not a solution of FCM. Hence, this paper gives a new explanation that some cluster invalidity index can work for FCM, and provides evidence that the definition of fuzzy partition proposed in is reasonable. Moreover, one conjecture on the solution of FCM is proposed.
