Abstract :
Computer based operator support systems (COSSs) which help the operator in normal and disturbance handling can increase both the safety and availability of nuclear power plants. This paper reviews Scottish Nuclear´s (UK) experience and current strategy in the application of COSSs at their nuclear power plants and describes applications of online diagnostics, computerised procedures and alarm systems. Numerous conclusions are also presented
