Abstract :
In order to clarify the control mechanism of the stomatognathic system, we have developed a two-dimensional dynamic jaw model capable of unloaded open-close movement. In this study, we analyzed the functions of the lateral, sphenomandibular and stylomandibular ligaments. Our numerical results verified that the ligaments restrict and smooth jaw movement.
