Abstract :
Coupled rotations of the talocrural joint were measured experimentally at the extremes of motion in human ankles using Euler angles. Tests were run in plantar- and dorsi-flexion, internal/external rotation and inversion/eversion. These pilot results were used to establish "envelopes" of coupled motion behavior for the talar joint that may be useful for verification of biofidelic finite element models of the human ankle.
