Abstract
Transporting real time video is an important component of many multimedia applications. In this paper, we propose a feedback-based flow control mechanism for video real-time transmission. The flow control mechanism consists of rate control algorithm and rate shaping technology. The rate control algorithm based on packet loss ratio can improve the availability of wireless bandwidth by congestion preventing. And the rate shaping technology can improve the real-time ability and continuity of video stream by video quality self-adjustment. Some experiments of delivering real-time video over CDMA1X network show that the mechanism can make the arriving frame rate stable in the receiver side and a continuous playing picture can be gotten.
