Abstract
Many of the fundamental characteristics of the recording and reproducing processes can be observed by considering the wavelength response and the pulse response of the magnetic recording channel. The first part of this paper presents some experimental results. The second part consists of a discussion of wavelength response analysis followed by an estimation of head-medium interface parameters based on the experimental measurements. Finally, the assumptions and approximations throughout the analyses are given
