Abstract
We compare the performance of a feedback coding architecture, in which the output bit rate is controlled by means of a feedback loop to the quantizer in the system, with a feedforward coding system in which a subset of the video data is first analysed before compression. Particularly the influence of video shuffling techniques, which are applied to optimize the visual quality during picture search, on the the performance of feedforward video coding is compared with feedback coding. The applicability of both systems for video recording is discussed
