Abstract
Home network architecture based on a rich Home Gateway (HGW) which manages household appliances and services centrally has been expected as new consumer electronics. However, the HGW has not been popular in our life because the installation cost of HGW is expensive compared with the benefits of services. Now, as a resolution, new home network architecture with cloud computing which removes HGW is proposed. In the architecture, non-real-time services are managed by network cloud and real-time services are realized by M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication between household appliances on the local area network. Then, communication devices are required to make household appliances connected to the network cloud and to make household appliances connected to each other for distributed autonomous control. In this study, the device defined as `Smart-Communicator´ is proposed and evaluated.
