Abstract :
A triple-band monopole planar antenna for DCS1800(Digital Cellular System) and WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) systems is proposed and studied in this paper. The antenna achieved multiband performance by etching an H-shaped and two U-shaped slots on a rectangular radiation patch, which covers 1.8 GHz band for DCS and 3.5/5.5 GHz bands for WiMAX. The proposed antenna has a small size of 30 mm × 41 mm and the three operating bandwidths for S11≤-10 dB are 11%, 28% and 13% at 1.8 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz, respectively. Moreover, the antenna maintained a monopole-like radiation pattern at the designed operating bands. The antenna is fabricated and a good agreement is obtained between the simulated and measured results.
