Abstract
In this paper, we present a method for reducing radar cross section (RCS) of a patch antenna in two frequency bands. This method is based on the metamaterial composed of double-square-loop structure, which is loaded around the exciting source. The RCS characteristic is investigated by numerical simulation. Compared with the conventional patch antenna, RCS is obviously reduced by about 8dBsm at 5.8GHz and 9GHz, which are located in and out of the working frequency range of the antenna, respectively. In addition, it is found that the loaded metamaterial almost have not negative influences on the antenna performance.
