Abstract :
Accelerated life tests with electrical, thermal and combined stresses are being carried out on models of EPR (ethylene-propylene-rubber) insulated cable, in order to characterize this type of cable from the point of view of endurance under such stresses. The results of the voltage endurance test is reported, together with a discussion of the method used and the statistical treatment of the data. The voltage endurance line has been plotted for times of the order of more than 10000 h. The shape of the line shows a good fit to linearity, suggesting an inverse power model for the life with a voltage endurance coefficient of about 20.<>
