Abstract
In this paper, we report a novel forwarding scheme based on angle information of the nodes involved and opportunistic selection of the relaying node via contention among receivers. The multihop performance of our protocol in terms of average number of hops to reach the sink node is discussed. An ideal scheme is discussed and its performance is evaluated by means of both simulation and analytical techniques. A practical scheme, in which angle estimation is considered, is shown to achieve performance very close to that ideal case.
