Abstract
In order to quantify the impact of partial discharges (PD) on an afflicted polymer surface a new evaluation approach was developed. The time and phase resolved (TR/PR) electrical information was correlated with the “erosive deterioration” of the dielectric surface. By this method, a specific PRPD-Pattern respectively Δu/Δφ-Pattern could be used to evaluate the degree of material deterioration. Then, these correlated pairs were classified into deterioration grades. By means of the deterioration classes, references were drawn up for numerous identical test pieces to control the insulation quality of the entire material
