Abstract :
This paper deals with the new scheme of transformer protection. First, reviews and analyzes the problem of transformer protection, which includes magnetizing inrush, overexcitation, current transformer (CT) saturation, and the sensitivity of the differential relay. Then, the paper proposes a new scheme for transformer protection. Finally, the scheme was tested in a lab and real operation conditions of a power system. The results show that the relay never mal-operated and correctly identified all the faults that are applied.
