  • Abstract
    To integrate surface fitting and generating process in creative design for shape, a method was presented which used genetic algorithm (GA) to solve problems in both processes uniformly. At first, a geometric model based on NURBS was established to represent surfaces which can reflect common feathers of them. Secondly, under the model, the process of surface fitting and generating were introduced to initiate data and generate new shapes. Thirdly, GA was adapted and both processes were transformed to problems separately that GA can solve well. An example was illustrated to verify the effectiveness of this method given here.
