Abstract
A fuzzy control strategy which based on constraint of spindle power in end milling process is reported. It is designed to adaptively maximize the feedrate subject to allowable cutting power of the tool, which is very beneficial for a time consuming complex shape machining. The excessive tool wear and tool breakage is prevented and a high material removal rate is maintained with the strategy. The system consists of a basic fuzzy logic controller, a fuzzy rule base, and a tuning mechanism. The tuning is used to enhance the adaptability of the system. The control system is developed and experiment with or without fuzzy control is carried out in a FANUC system, the compare results show that the system has good performance.
