Abstract
This paper summarized key points to design blower motors for cooling alternator and traction motors on mining trucks. The both blower motors are directly connected to the alternator terminals, which have widely variable voltage and frequency. Although the alternator voltage is a sinusoidal wave form, but a huge rectifier, as a non-linear load, destroys the voltage wave form. New blowers were designed with VPI insulation, insulated bearings and large frame to protect Spike and transient voltage, shaft currents, and harmonic heating.
