Abstract
This paper proposes a method for fast estimation of transient stability constrained ATC (available transfer capability) by RVM (relevance vector machine). The proposed RVM learns how to estimate ATC from the readily obtained small number of accurate ATC calculated by the conventional stability analysis program. This enables us to tell the approximate value of ATC without any long computation time. In this paper the usefulness of the proposed method is verified by a numerical example. L-method and Y-method is used to obtain the accurate ATC of IEEJ West 10 test system. The proposed method successfully gives approximate ATC with sufficient accuracy. Because we need no stability analysis for this calculation we can say that we obtain the ATC estimation very fast and it is expected to be used as an initial guess for accurate ATC screening.
