Abstract :
The inverse electrocardiology problem requires integration of an elliptic partial differential equation under Cauchy conditions, and is thereby ill-posed. The author presents an approach to the inverse problem. A well-posed theoretical approach is derived which provides a method for calculation of the timing and location of critical points of ventricular surface activation. Since the output of regularization methods depends sensitively on a priori information regarding the nature of the solution, such localization could prove useful in further constraining or validating ill-posed formulations. However, critical point characterization also has intrinsic interest as it constitutes a qualitative picture of ventricular surface activation
