Abstract :
A major drawback of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), which necessitates the use of expensive power amplifiers with a large operating range. Partial transmit sequence (PTS) is one of the existing techniques to reduce PAPR but it requires side information (SI) to be transmitted with data signal, which results in data rate loss. We propose a new PTS technique which involves a mapping of quaternary data over concentric circles. This method does not require SI and allows simplified decoding. It also provides better SER performance with good PAPR reduction.
