Abstract :
Forest harvesting practice affects the forest ecosystem carbon (C) storage in aboveground wood pool, woody debris pool and soil pool. Broad-leaved and Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis) mixed forest is the typical forest in Changbai Mountain in northeast of China. Eight 1-ha study sites were selected and investigated in August and September 2007. Two replicated sites include four harvest types (30 years post-harvest, 20 years post- harvest, 10 years post-harvest and primary forest) and 50% biomass in aboveground wood pool had been logging in all harvest sites. C storage in these pools was calculated by biomass and carbon concentration. Total ecosystem carbon content (the sum of wood, woody debris and soil) of the each type (30, 20,10 years post-harvest and primary forest) was 112.0, 97.1, 94.7, 146.0 Mg ha-1.
