  • Abstract
This paper presents a three-dimensional Finite Element Model (FEM) of a Mandible Right First Molar (MRFM) attached to the bone by a thin soft tissue interface called periodontal ligament (PDL), the MRFM and mandible section complex forms were obtained from standard well dimensioned contours established in Odontology (contours and shapes). The molar root bifurcation is also considered. Geometry domains were obtained using Splines and NURBS curves and surfaces. Also the geometry entities of MRFM-PDL-Bone system were computed using Boolean operations and a structure-structure coupled system is presented. Finally we focus on a comparison of Linear Elastic and Linear Viscoelastic Periodontal Ligament behaviour with others specialized literature results reported trough various models using different load levels and different PDL properties.
