Abstract
The author develops a Petri-net-based shop-floor controller with a modular structure. This structure is made possible through the use of adaptive Petri nets. The controller is then analyzed using the theory of Petri nets. The issue of automatic recovery of the controller from failures is discussed. It is shown that in the presence of conflicts, the recovery scheme depends on the scheduling policies
