Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to outline the standardization activities of ITU-T (the former CCITT) on audiovisual transmission quality. At present activities are aimed at defining families of subjective test methods one-way and two-way test methods. The paper also describes the results obtained from a two-way conversation test carried out by using videophone codecs accomplishing the CCITT recommendations
