Abstract
Practical shielding design requires one to optimize the electromagnetic field attenuation taking into account multiple constraints such as weight, costs and dimensions. This paper proposes a formulation of this procedure in form of an unconstrained optimization problem, its numerical solution by means of the modified Price´s algorithm and the validation of the results by comparison with known ones. Various shielding configurations are analyzed and from the optimization results, some design rules are drawn
