Abstract
Satellite navigation is becoming increasingly important in forming an inalienable element, together with multi-standard communication capabilities, for future road applications. The combined use of GNSS based satellite navigation and multi-standard communication offers many advantages compared with currently available satellite navigation systems for the use within road applications. The inclusion of multi-standard communication capabilities within a GNSS based satellite navigation system will decrease significantly expenses with regard to equipment and costs. This paper describes the objectives and analyses the results of the SANSICOM project co-funded by the European Commission in the 4th Framework Programme-the combination of GNSS satellite navigation and multi-standard communication for road applications
