Abstract :
This paper presents a system for measuring the harmonic content and voltage fluctuations (flicker) of voltage signals in an electrical supply system. It is based on general purpose hardware comprising a PC, to which an A/D conversion card and a specialized processor (DSP) are connected. The actual measuring systems are software modules incorporating the latest IEC standards. This is a multi-channel system which works in real-time. It is especially useful for simultaneously characterizing harmonic content and flicker in arc furnace power systems
