Abstract
A bimodal low-floor tram is being developed to combine the flexibility of a bus with the punctuality of a train. The propulsion system will be a series hybrid type using a set of CNG engine generators and Li-polymer batteries. This paper describes the specifications of the propulsion system in the bimodal tram and how the propulsion system of the bimodal tram can be controlled. The performance of the bimodal tram was investigated using ADVISOR, a computer simulation tool for hybrid vehicles.
