Abstract
This paper presents a study of the steady state operation of a three phase reluctance motor fed from a single phase supply using a two element phase balancer. The performance analysis of the motor is given. Variation of the values of the two elements of the balancer that ensure balanced operation, with the load angle, is given. The scheme is tested using only fixed value for the balancer elements. Motor torque under this mode of supply is found to be nearly equal to that under balanced operation. Theoretical analysis is supported by experimental measurements
