Abstract :
Following a previous research on the development of simplified field oriented control methods, this paper reports an application of such a technique to the position control of low power three phase squirrel-cage induction motor drives, where the outer position control loop is designed as a linear system. The hardware consists mainly of a PWM voltage-source inverter, an eight-bit microcontroller and a pulse shaft encoder. Capabilities and limitations of this procedure are discussed. Experimental results were obtained which validate theory and show interesting possibilities of such a system for specific domains of application
