Abstract :
There are many important parameters that should be considered when performing injection of a Gaussian TEM/sub 00/ beam into a corrugated circular waveguide for electron cyclotron resonant heating systems. We look at the effects that tilt, offset, ellipticity and distance of the waist from the aperture have on coupling to the HE/sub 11/ mode. The effects of tilt and offset were first considered in work by Ohkubo (1989), with which our results agree. We have found that coupling into the HE/sub 11/ mode is highly dependent on these parameters.
