Abstract
A study of the Argonne National Laboratory/Mississippi State University “MPICH” implementation of MPI is presented. The performance of point-to-point communications on clusters, MPPs, networks of workstations, and SMPs is given. Performance strategies for a range of application and architecture characteristics are discussed. Experiences installing MPICH on these architectures are also discussed
