Abstract :
Newton-Raphson Method is a widely used power flow method for the load flow analysis, but for the particular topology structure of the radial power distribution network, it may fail converge or use lots of time for calculating due to the special nature of distribution system. In this paper, an ameliorative method of Newton-Raphson is presented, which is based on Down-hill Method. An approximate linear solution is used for an iterative initial value, in order to improve the time of Newton-Raphson Method. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been tested on 126-bus distribution network and results are compared with other power flow methods.
